Carrying Forth - Full Corn Moon Aug 30, 2023

Native Wisdom for tonight's full Corn Moon, including mantra, meditation and journaling prompts, gleaned from Asha Frost's book on 13 Moons of Indigenous Wisdom. The video was taken a few days ago - it is a Kalapuyan land blessing song by native woman Shannon.
Corn Moon, Ndaamiin Giizis, visions a healed way for our descendants. Corn represents the many seeds that will carry forth, and now is our time to prepare for them and dream their future into being. They stand on tall stalks reaching upward toward connection with the upper worlds where the spirits of the future are watching and waiting to begin their journey on Earth. We welcome them and hold space for their rising.
How will you lead? Corn moon calls to this great responsibility, and wisdom that it is not all about you. This moon reminds us to never underestimate the ways your heart and your words impact this world and impact generations before and after you.
Eagle is the animal spirit associated with our 9th moon, providing a higher perspective and rising and gateway to our spiritual path. We spread our wings and remember our wholeness. Smudging allows Eagle to carry our intentions to source, and Eagle feather is a sign of leadership and rising to one’s medicine gifts. With Eagle we hold our vision for a healed existence for all beings, extending our legacy contributing to the consciousness and wellbeing of all creation.
Meditation
Speaking to corn moon, close your eyes and imagine soaring on the back of Eagle and then becoming one, your body births wings at the back of your heart.
Show me the seeds I am meant to plant as my legacy.
Show me the dreams I am meant to nurture.
Show me the ripples of impact I am meant to make in this world.
“The Eagle is the leader of the birds. It says that this is what it means to be a good leader, to have vision, to be generous… it reminds the whole community that leadership is not rooted in power and authority, but in service and wisdom.” – Robin Wall Kimmerer, Braiding Sweetgrass
Journaling Exercise to utilize the power of the Corn Moon:
1. What are your top three values that you hold dear?
2. What have you healed through that you can now share as wisdom?
3. What do you want to model to those around you and the future generations?
4. Do you have a given name that represents you and your legacy? Does it inform how you show up in the world?
5. Who in your life will hold you to your integrity?
Corn Moon Mantra:
I am conscious about the impact I make on future generations, the Earth and my kin. I create ripples of love with my intentional actions.
